Since he suffered a leg injury vs. Miami, Florida State receiver Keith Gavin has not played in any of the Seminole three games. However, in pregame warmups vs. Syracuse, Gavin was fully dressed and participating in drills.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher said he practiced all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. The return is much sooner than expected and just in the nick of time. Due to lack of depth with all the injuries, defensive back Ermon Lane was moved back to his natural position of receiver at Boston College. Walk-on Jared Jackson also saw a considerable amount of reps.
Before his injury, Gavin had 134 receiving yards on 14 receptions. Despite missing the last three games, those numbers rank fourth and third on the team respectively. The 6’3 225 lb. Crawfordville, Fla. native will look to make an impact on what could be Florida State’s first home victory of the season.
Update: Gavin was announced as the starting receiver in the pregame stadium announcements.
