All week in team meetings, Jimbo Fisher declined to let his players know if he was leaving Florida State for Texas A&M. He did, however, assure them that they would be the first to know.

As Tomahawk Nation has reported throughout the week, however, players were not comforted by his assurances. Unlike previous years in which Fisher flirted with schools, they did not think he was returning.

Ultimately, the players were not the first to know. Instead, they found out that Fisher was leaving via social media.

Per a person in Fisher’s final meeting with his players, the former head coach apologized for misleading his team.

“I promised that you would be the first to know. I don’t know how it got out,” A sobbing Fisher said.

Players on social media expressed disappointment over finding out via the medium, instead of the man. It was an emotional scene, with both players and coach shedding tears.

New interim coach Odell Haggins also consoled players.

Fisher will not coach the game against Louisiana-Monroe.
