Florida State will simultaneously kick off the Willie Taggart era and wrap up Odell Haggins’ time as the head coach in style Wednesday when the Seminoles wear their all-garnet uniforms for their Independence Bowl matchup with Southern Miss.
This will mark the second time in the last three seasons that FSU has broken out its all-garnet look for a bowl matchup. They also did so in 2015’s Peach Bowl matchup against Houston. That was the only time the Seminoles sported these uniforms in the Jimbo Fisher era. Before then, the last time FSU wore this all-garnet look was in the 2007 Music City Bowl.
New head coach Willie Taggart has already discussed his plans to break out alternate uniforms with his team, citing that he willing to do whatever it takes to win.
Taggart will be in attendance, but interim head coach Odell Haggins, who has officially been retained on Taggart’s staff, will serve as the head coach Wednesday for the second and final time.
Kickoff between the Seminoles and the Golden Eagles is set for 1:30 p.m and will be broadcast on ESPN.
