If you’re like most people, you don’t know too much about the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, Florida State’s opponent in the 2017 Independence Bowl. The Seminoles will set a new college football record with their appearance in Shreveport, and today, Vegas set the first line for the game.
According to VegasInsider.com, the ’Noles opened as 15-point favorites over USM. Of course, FSU has not fared well against the spread this season. Against the number, the Seminoles are just 2-8-1 so far this season— but those two victories came in their last two games, blowout wins over Florida and Louisana-Monroe. And the number should have been three straight, as Florida State beat Delaware State by 71, but the cover was not official, due to the game being shortened to 10-minute quarters in the second half.
Just a reminder that these lines tend to change as stories develop, injuries occur, and teams hire new head coaches.
