Willie Taggart plans to use alternate uniforms at FSU

THIS IS NOT A DRILL

With Willie Taggart coming over from Oregon, a program known for its varied alternate uniforms, many have been wondering if he is planning on bringing similar changes to Tallahassee as Florida State’s new coach.

According to multiple players who addressed the media on Friday, this is already a subject that Taggart has brought up to the team.

“Coach [Taggart] said if [alternate] uniforms are going to help us go out there and put points on the board, we're going to wear them,” FSU running back Jacques Patrick said. “Whatever helps win.”

Under Jimbo Fisher, FSU became notorious for rarely utilizing alternate uniforms despite them being a favorite look of players, recruits and many fans. The Seminoles did debut a new permanent design at the beginning of the 2014 season, but only on three occasions in Fisher’s eight seasons did FSU stray from its usual look (all-black alternates vs. Chattanooga in 2015, all-garnet uniforms in 2014 Peach Bowl and all-white uniforms vs. Oklahoma State in 2014).
