FSU football to play Northern Illinois in 2018 season

If Florida State and Northern Illinois meeting on the football field sounds oddly familiar, there’s a good reason for that. The Seminoles finished out their 2012 season by crushing the Huskies in the 2013 Orange Bowl, topping NIU by a score of 31-10. And per a recent report from fbschedules.com, FSU will have another chance to tame the Huskies in the 2018 season.

That will occur on September 22, and in Tallahassee, giving the ’Noles their third non-conference opponent for that season, in addition to a road date with Notre Dame and a home tilt against the Florida Gators. FSU is still in the market for one more 2018 out-of-conference foe— expect it to be against a relative cupcake, in Tallahassee. Per the report, NIU will receive 1.6 million from Florida State for taking the field vs. the Seminoles. Don’t expect the ’Noles to schedule a reciprocating trip to DeKalb anytime soon.
