Throughout the buildup to the 2017 NFL Draft, countless mock drafts have materialized, and the projections of just where Florida State’s all-time leading rusher, Dalvin Cook, will be headed have varied consistently. But they’ve almost always had Cook being selected in the first round— until somewhat recently, when some have begun predicting that Cook would fall into round two.
The question then becomes, why? Certainly, there is no shortage of criteria upon which to judge prospective draftees. Sprints, shuttles, vertical leap, bench press— and those are just some of the on-field evaluations. There are also interviews, tests, and the perception of a player’s character. And according to SI.com’s Robert Klemko, while Cook has had some issues with law enforcement in the past, he is currently being unfairly and inaccurately targeted by someone within the industry.
Klemko, writing for The MMQB, details the troubling reports in his well-crafted piece that you can check out right here.
