The other day, I reported on the transfer of Florida State defensive back Marcus Lewis, after it was announced by Head Coach Jimbo Fisher during the ACC Media Days in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lewis’ transfer was hardly a surprise, as he’d largely been recruited over following a very promising start to his career in Tallahassee.
Still, Lewis took to social media recently to address the transfer himself. These kinds of missives are often populated by subtle chest-thumping and passive aggression toward one’s former program, but there’s none of that in Lewis’ farewell tweet to ’Nole Nation. As you can read for yourself below, he comes across as nothing but grateful for the opportunity while maintaining respect and appreciation for the people and program that offered it.
In a time when self-serving motives seem to characterize the actions of most, Lewis’ remarks strike the rare balance of gratitude, humility, and class:
