On September 2nd, Florida State vs. Alabama will be played in the brand new Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The season opener will be the first regular season game in either college or the NFL held in the facility which has been under construction since May of 2014.
The stadium has a capacity of 75,000 patrons with the flexibility to hold up to 83,000 for spectacles such as the World Cup or Super Bowl. It will host the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons as well as Atlanta United of the MLS. It will also host the Chick-fil-A college football kickoff events, FSU vs. Alabama and GT vs. Tennessee, as well as the annual Peach Bowl.
The Atlanta Falcons’ Facebook account gave viewers a 20 minute tour of the nearly completed stadium, taking the camera through the concourses, suites, seating bowl and on the field. The stadium looks absolutely magnificent.
