On Wednesday morning, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher conducted his first weekly ACC Teleconference of the 2017 season. Each Wednesday, Fisher and the other head coaches from the ACC will speak for 10 minutes over the phone.
“We know right off the bat, Alabama is going to be a well coached football team that dots the i’s and crosses the t’s...I think my players are up to it.”
Fisher was asked about the status of Matthew Thomas and if he will be able to participate in Saturday’s season opening game vs. Alabama. The head coach confirmed our report that Thomas did not practice on Tuesday. Fisher also said he thought he would have and doesn’t know if the senior linebacker will play in Saturday’s game. “If he can play, he will play.”
When asked about his history with Saban and anything he has taken from the Alabama head coach into his own coaching techniques, Fisher responded that both have very similar ideas and think philosophically very similarly.
The Florida State head coach was then asked what he liked so much about the freshman group. “I think their maturity and poise, and a lot of them showed that in practice. And their intelligence level.”
