There’s no hiding the fact that, as loaded with talent as it is, this year’s Florida State defense has a chance to be special. Amongst the players, Tarvarus McFadden may be the biggest believer in the group.

The junior cornerback, who addressed the media after Thursday’s practice, had no qualms about sharing exactly how confident he is.

“If we don’t get a national championship, we will feel like we failed. We have big goals this year,“ McFadden said. “I feel like the only people who are going to stop us are ourselves.”

McFadden, who has been thrust into a leadership role at cornerback as the only returning starter in just his second year as a starter, has felt himself adapting well to the new responsibilities.

“I thrive on big moments,” McFadden said. “[Marquez White] is gone so a lot of guys look up to me. I just take on that role to help the team any way I can.”
