The junior attributes much of what he learned from his two years under the tutelage of FSU’s all-time leading rusher.

Jacques Patrick has big shoes to fill.

The junior, named the starting running back at this point by Jimbo Fisher in his opening press conference of fall camp, has to follow up the legendary Florida State career of Dalvin Cook, who left Tallahassee as the new leading rusher in program history.

He isn’t shying away from the opportunity, though.

Instead, relying on the lessons he learned under Cook’s tutelage in their two years together, Patrick feels well equipped to lead the running backs.

“Being behind him two years, I soaked up everything I could from him,” Patrick said. “He always gave me advice, gave me the things that he knows.”

Patrick added: “I got the blueprint. Being behind him these last two years, I have been doing a blueprint of what to do. I’m following it now.

“I’m ready for it. I have high expectations for myself and for the position.”
