Since FSU wide receiver Da’Vante Phillips was charged with four counts of fraud as well as a count of grand theft back on August 5th, he has been sitting in a limbo of sorts, suspended from the team but not yet officially dismissed from the program.
He is still not officially dismissed, but there was a definite update on the Phillips front ahead of Saturday’s season opener with Alabama, as he is missing from FSU’s official roster released for the matchup with the Crimson Tide.
This is not an official update of Phillips’ status with the team, but it seems to be a step in that direction.
Phillips’ absence, which Florida State has been dealing with since early in fall camp, deals a blow to the Seminoles’ limited wide receiver depth. However, there are numerous weapons still available to Fisher on offense to compensate for a dearth of scholarship wideouts.
