The Florida State Seminoles and fans have been waiting long enough— three weeks to be exact, for FSU football. The ’Noles kick off its home opener against NC State on Saturday in what is expected to be an intriguing matchup.
For the first time since 1985, Florida State is sending out a true freshman quarterback to start a football game. James Blackman only enrolled at Florida State in May but due to the injury of Deondre Francois, now sees himself manning the Seminoles offense.
On the other sideline, NC State redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley will get his second career start against the ’Noles. In the 2016 matchup, the Boise State transfer threw for 304 yards on 25-41 passing with one touchdown and an interception. Finley’s biggest threat on Saturday will be the deep ball. Florida State had trouble defending the deep ball in its season opener vs. Alabama.
