Florida State senior Matthew Thomas was injured in the first half of the FSU vs. NC State game on Saturday, however returned to the field later in the opening half. An announcement was made at halftime that the starting linebacker would not return due to an undisclosed injury. Tim Linafelt, Seminoles.com senior writer, reported it was a back injury that will keep Thomas out the remainder of the game.

Up to the point of injury, the Florida State defense was already struggling, allowing 199 first half yards and 6.2 yards per play. Thomas did not make a tackle in his time on the field.

Behind him on the depth chart is sophomore Emmett Rice. The Miami Gardens, Fla. native committed 12 tackles in his freshman season with a career high five vs. Boston College. Rice stands in at 6’2 213 lbs.
