Many believed that commitment to and the subsequent breakthrough of the Florida State running game was crucial towards FSU notching its first win of the season at Wake Forest.

The Seminoles did exactly that Saturday, racking up 149 rushing yards behind the entourage of Jacques Patrick, Cam Akers, and Amir Rasul in their 26-19 win over the Demon Deacons.

Patrick racked up 120 yards on 19 carries (6.3 yards per carry) and scored FSU’s first rushing touchdown of the year, Akers nearly scored his first collegiate touchdown, and Rasul, who got his first non-garbage playing time for FSU against the Demon Deacons, flashed his potential as a change-of-pace back.

“It was really nice to see not just myself, but me and Cam make the most of our opportunities,” Patrick said after the game in a video on “I feel like we’re the hardest working running backs in the country. We work hard and our coach expects a lot from us.”
