We figured one major depth-chart change was coming following Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois’ catastrophic knee injury in FSU’s loss to Alabama, an injury that Head Coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed during his press conference on Monday. Francois tore his patellar tendon, which will require surgery this week, and dictate that he miss the remainder of the 2017 season.
A quarterback known for his resiliency, Francois nevertheless remains atop the Florida State depth chart at QB, even though Fisher also acknowledged that he’d miss 4-7 months and that true freshman James Blackman would be starting against Louisiana-Monroe in the Seminoles’ home-opener on Saturday. The lack of change at the signal-caller spot is a microcosm for the rest of the depth chart, as it is entirely unchanged from the one distributed to the media before the Alabama game. This is very rare, indeed, as there are typically some alterations, even if they are minor.
