FSU quarterback Deondre Francois was investigated for his involvement in a domestic violence incident on January 23 involving his girlfriend, which was first reported by the Tallahassee Democrat. The Seminole QB called the police Tuesday night after an argument between the two, and an Incident Report was filed.

Recruiting

Florida State offered four-star defensive tackle Jaquaze Sorrells, a class of 2019 DT from Largo (Fla.) Largo High School. Sorrells is the No. 7 defensive tackle in his class and the No. 14 prospect out of Florida. Since December 31, he has picked up offers from Florida, Miami, Texas A&M, and now FSU.

The Seminoles coaching staff met with 2018 four-star defensive tackle Malcom Lamar out of Seffner (Fla.) Armwood High School. Lamar, the 11th-ranked player at his position and No. 83 player in his class, de-committed from Oregon in late December, just four days after an official visit to FSU. His connection to ’Nole head coach Willie Taggart is certainly a story to follow with the Florida native.

Other Sports

FSU baseball opens its season February 16 against Xavier and has been recognized in the top 10, and often higher, in several nationally recognized Preseason Top 25 rankings. Baseball America gave the Seminoles a No. 3 ranking, citing a strong returning pitching staff in Tyler Holton and Cole Sands and youth in the lineup with Drew Mendoza and Jackson Lueck.

The FSU beach volleyball team will begin its season next month on February 23. On Twitter, the team advertised a Garnet and Gold scrimmage, which will be held in Jacksonville a week prior to the start of the regular season, on February 17.

Alumni

Florida State University celebrated its 167th birthday yesterday. The day of celebration for the school comes a day prior to admissions decisions for graduating high school seniors.
