FSU’s Deondre Francois, Brian Burns named ACC Players of the Week

12 and 99 recognized as No. 1 at their respective positions.

A pair of Seminoles from each side of the ball secured commendations recently, following Florida State’s stomping of Wake Forest on Saturday. Signal-caller Deondre Francois was tapped as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Quarterback of the Week after connecting on 29 of 40 passes for 353 yards and a pair of scores vs. the Demon Deacons. Francois also did not throw a single pick and avoided surrendering a sack.

Also earning a nod was defensive end Brian Burns, who captured the ACC’s Defensive Lineman of the Week honor. Burns registered a couple of sacks against the Deacs, and now has nine on the season. That’s second, nationally, among all FBS players. Only Louisiana Tech’s Jaylon Ferguson has more, with 9.5. If Burns continues to flash the way that he has lately, he could find himself in line for more than just conference recognition. He’ll certainly have a chance to showcase his talents in front of a national audience this Saturday against Clemson.
