No FBS team rises more spots than FSU in S&P+ rankings after BC win

A welcomed change.

With one game left and a victory needed to continue their bowl streak, the Seminoles picked the right time of the year to see a significant uptick in their S&P+ ranking. These forward looking, predictive rankings formulated by SB Nation advanced-stat guru Bill Connelly had Florida State at No. 87 last week, but the ’Noles vaulted 13 spots after defeating the Boston College Eagles, to No. 74.

The only other team to equal that dramatic of a rise over the weekend was BYU, which also jumped 13 spots, from No. 66 to No. 53, after handily besting New Mexico State. BC had been No. 46, but dropped 14 notches to No. 60 (only UAB, which plummeted 15 spots, fell farther than the Eagles).

Of course, FSU’s opponent this Saturday will be the Florida Gators, and they also saw their ranking improve after easily dispatching of Idaho. UF picked up five spots, moving from No. 22 to No. 17.
