Blue-chip offensive tackle decommits from Florida State

A blow to FSU’s recruiting class at a position of need.

Florida State received some bad news regarding its 2019 recruiting class when four-star offensive tackle Charles Cross announced that he would be decommitting from the ’Noles and opening back up his recruitment.

Cross, a Mississippi native who is ranked as the No. 19 offensive tackle per the 247 Composite, has been heavily linked to Mississippi State in the past few weeks.

This is a massive blow to Florida State because the Seminoles are in desperate need of offensive tackles on its roster. FSU’s offensive line this season has been decimated by injuries and several players are playing out of position in an attempt to patch together a workable line.

With Cross’ decommitment, Florida State now only has one offensive line commit for the 2019 class: four-star guard Dontae Lucas. However, the Seminoles are currently in pursuit of several top offensive line targets, including five-star tackle Evan Neal, three-star tackle Dawand Jones and four-star guard William Putnam.
