The Florida State Seminoles travel to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Saturday. The opening betting line on the game is the Irish favored by 16, but it was quickly bet up to 18.
The game is set to kick off at 7:30 on NBC.
Florida State is coming off a loss against N.C. State in which it failed to cover a spread of 9.5 points
Notre Dame is coming off a 10-point win at Northwestern, and has been one of the most dominant teams in the nation. The Irish offense has been excellent after the change to Ian Book at QB, and the defense is one of the nation’s best.
FSU, on the other hand, has little to no chance to block good defenses up front as it has been decimated by injury. This was likely a blowout in the preseason, and even more so now.
The over/under for the total points to be scored in the game is not yet released. But with weather expected to be freezing, it will be an interesting total.
Early lines are inherently volatile. They can swing on injury information or public perception. As such, the max bet size on these is very low early in the week. As the picture of the game becomes clearer, the maximum bet size will increase.
Florida State’s record against the spread this season is 3-6.
This post will be updated to reflect line changes and additional wager options being released.
