May splitting the uprights mean topping the ballot?

You don’t have to go back too far to find other Seminoles to have captured the Lou Groza Award, bestowed each year upon the country’s best kicker. Roberto Aguayo won it in 2013. Ahead of him were ’Noles Graham Gano in 2008 and Sebastian Janikowski in both 1998 and 1999. In fact, this award has been clinched by FSU kickers more than those from any other school.

And now Florida State kicker Ricky Aguayo has a chance to add his name to this illustrious list, as he’s been included on the 2018 Lou Groza Award Watch List. Aguayo is one of 30 on this year’s watch list, and he’s also one of just two Seminoles on this year’s preseason All-ACC team.

The position of Florida State kicker tends to receive more publicity than that of most toeing the leather across the country, but Aguayo has handed that role aptly of late.
