Florida State center Alec Eberle has been included on another preseason watch list. After already having been named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List for the nation’s top center, the redshirt-senior Seminole was recently tapped as the lone ’Nole to be included on the Outland Trophy Watch List as well.
The Outland Trophy is bestowed annually upon the top interior lineman in the country; it’s one of the few national awards that can go to a player on either side of the ball. Last year, it was captured by Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
Speaking of DTs, it’s a bit surprising that Seminole defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas was not included on the 82-player list. Christmas had a very nice 2017 season and figures to lead a deep Florida State defensive line in 2018.
Christmas, like FSU DB Levonta Taylor, is an interesting exclusion from the award watch list honoring his position.
