BRADENTON, Fla. — Defensive Coordinator Harlon Barnett spoke with the assembled media before FSU’s Wednesday practice at the IMG Academy.
Barnett has a lot of faith in his new defense and spoke with us for over six minutes. I asked him the question about how he has had to adapt his defense over time with the proliferation of the spread offense in college football.
I was curious about his response, because Michigan State’s defense changed a lot after its Cotton Bowl game against Baylor in 2015. FSU seems to have the personnel to run a version of the defense which will fit against spread teams.
I also asked Barnett who the “film junkies” are on his defense, AKA the players who are always watching film nonstop. He seemed pleased with his players and named quite a few.
Hear from FSU DC Harlon BarnettHarlon Barnett on FSU's new defense and its adaptability.
