The Florida State Seminoles host the Virginia Tech Hokies to open the year on Labor Day Night. The opening betting line on the game is the Seminoles favored by six points.
The game is set to kick off at 8pm and will be televised on ESPN.
FSU is coming off a 7-6 season, but has a new coaching staff headed by Willie Taggart, and a good amount of talent returning.
The over/under for the total points to be scored in the game is 54, and that number has been rising aggressively since it opened at 50. Bettors are counting on FSU’s up-tempo offense creating more possessions, both for the Seminoles and for the Hokies.
Early lines are inherently volatile. They can swing on injury information or public perception. As such, the max bet size on these is very low early in the week. As the picture of the game becomes clearer, the maximum bet size will increase.
This post will be updated to reflect line changes and additional wager options being released, but the attrition suffered by VT has certainly become a storyline.
