Florida State opens as a 33-point favorite against Samford

It’s a big number, but Samford is a quality opponent by FCS standards.

The Florida State Seminoles host the Samford Bulldogs Saturday. The opening betting line on the game is the Seminoles favored by 33 points. Lines on FCS games are not offered at all casinos, but this line can be found at some offshore shops, like 5 Dimes.

The game is set to kick off at 7:20.

Florida State is coming off a loss against Virginia Tech in which it failed to cover a spread of 7 points.

Samford is coming off a win over Shorter College, 66-9. Samford is a legitimate opponent by FCS standards, ranking 9th nationally. The Bulldogs are probably better than the bottom few teams in the FBS.

The over/under for the total points to be scored in the game is 53.5. That implies a score of roughly 43-10.

Early lines are inherently volatile. They can swing on injury information or public perception. As such, the max bet size on these is very low early in the week. As the picture of the game becomes clearer, the maximum bet size will increase.

Florida State’s record against the spread this season is 0-1

This post will be updated to reflect line changes and additional wager options being released.
