FSU football not even getting Vegas odds to land transfer QB Jalen Hurts from Alabama

The pros don’t see Tallahassee on this quarterback’s itinerary.

Update: Hurts has committed to Oklahoma

The transfer market has been an arena of intense focus for the Florida State football program and its fans this offseason— and for good reason: the Seminoles are rebounding from a losing season for the first time since 1976. The ’Noles have no shortage of issues to address, and often, tapping players with experience at the collegiate level can provide the quickest, if not longterm, solution.

One of the position groups at which FSU definitely needs more competent bodies is at quarterback. After former four-star commit Sam Howell flipped to North Carolina during the Early Signing Period, the Seminoles were left with just Deondre Francois and James Blackman remaining, as far as scholarship QBs go (and despite a recent announcement by Francois, there remain doubts as to whether or not he’ll be with the ’Noles come fall).

Florida State has already delved into the QB transfer market once this offseason, snagging former Louisville signal-caller Jordan Travis. After the Seminoles whiffed on Justin Fields, some thought Jalen Hurts, who’s pursuing a transfer from Alabama, could make sense as another addition— but don’t count the oddsmakers in Vegas among them.

BetOnline.AG has released odds on Hurts’ next destination, and FSU isn’t even on the board:

  • Maryland -200 (1/2)
  • Miami +400 (4/1)
  • TCU +500 (5/1)
  • Auburn +1000 (10/1)
  • Houston +1000 (10/1)
