FSU bowl projections improve after week-5 win over NC State

Not all bowls are created equal. College Football Playoff bowls really matter. New Year’s Six games are nice, but a definite step down. And then there are the rest. But still, if you’re gonna play in one of those “other” bowls, it may as well be one with name recognition and history.

And a couple of the latest bowl projections have Florida State making some of those games. Two weeks ago, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach didn’t even have the Seminoles making a bowl. But he now has them going to the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville to play Mississippi State. And our own Banner Society has upgraded their prediction for FSU too, forecasting a date with Arizona State in El Paso’s Sun Bowl. Not bad.

The other projections with which we check have maintained the same destinations and opponents for the ’Noles as last week. Matching up with Nebraska in the Pinstripe Bowl remains the pick of 247 Sports, CBS Sports, and The Sporting News. And College Football News still thinks a return to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport to play Tulane lies ahead for the Seminoles.

Oh, and Brett McMurphy, writing for Stadium, continues to maintain his position that Florida State will not make a bowl.
