For the second straight Saturday, the Seminoles (3-3, 2-2) will hit the road as underdogs. But handicappers think this week’s opponent should prove a touch more manageable than the last.
After Clemson opened as a 27.5-point favorite over Florida State last week, Wake Forest (5-1, 1-1) is getting just a 1.5-point edge against the ’Noles in Winston-Salem. The over/under is at 69, which sounds like a nice little warmup in the wake of the Demon Deacons’ 62-59 marathon loss to Louisville yesterday. So Vegas is thinking something like 35-34. Translation: after a bye week and then an outing in Death Valley that you should’ve entered with adjusted expectations, it may be time to start pulling your hair out again.
FSU is 30-6-1 vs. the Deacs all-time and has won seven straight against WF. The Seminoles’ last loss in the series was a 35-30 road defeat in 2011. We’ll see how Wake reacts to dropping its first game of the season.
