New power-5 opponents for FSU in latest bowl projections

Postseason possibilities.

NCAA Football: Belk Bowl-Arkansas vs Virginia Tech Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Florida State isn’t going to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game. But maybe it can get there for a bowl. At least that’s where The Sporting News thinks the Seminoles are heading in updated bowl projections, where they’d meet the Ole Miss Rebels in the Belk Bowl.

Another P5 foe could be on the horizon for the ’Noles according to CBS Sports, which still believes FSU is Big-Apple bound for the Pinstripe Bowl. But while CBS previously thought the Seminoles would play Nebraska, they’re now forecasting a different Big Ten West opponent: the (currently undefeated) Minnesota Gophers, who just entered the AP Poll at No. 20.

Our own Banner Society has Florida State facing Temple in Annapolis’ Military Bowl, while 247 Sports and College Football News have the same prediction (stop reading here if you’re in a good mood and want to stay that way): they think FSU returns to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA to play the home-state Tulane Green Wave.

Both of ESPN’s predictors, Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura, have dropped the ’Noles from their projections.
