Tomahawk Nation’s week-8 FanPulse Top-25, & the game drawing most excitement

The calm before the storm?

NCAA Football: Florida State at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Florida State seems determined to cling to mediocrity, but so do a lot of other schools across the college football landscape. Hence your most recent Tomahawk Nation FanPulse voting, and its resulting top 25, with records and last week’s ranks in parentheses.

  1. Alabama (7-0) (1)
  2. Clemson (7-0) (2)
  3. LSU (7-0) (3)
  4. Ohio State (7-0) (4)
  5. Oklahoma (7-0) (5)
  6. Penn State (7-0) (7)
  7. Georgia (6-1) (10)
  8. Auburn (6-1) (9)
  9. Notre Dame (5-1) (8)
  10. Florida (7-1) (13)
  11. Oregon (6-1) (12)
  12. Wisconsin (6-1) (6)
  13. SMU (7-0) (16)
  14. Minnesota (7-0) (14)
  15. Texas (5-2) (15)
  16. Baylor (7-0) (21)
  17. Utah (6-1) (17)
  18. Cincinnati (6-1) (22)
  19. App State (6-0) (24)
  20. Wake Forest (6-1) (23)
  21. Arizona State (5-2) (20)
  22. Boise State (6-1) (11)
  23. Virginia (5-2) (25)
  24. San Diego State (6-1) (NR)
  25. Virginia Tech (5-2) (NR)

What’s great about this is that so many of these undefeated schools still have to play each other. Alabama and LSU. Ohio State and Penn State. Oklahoma and Baylor. A lot of those zero-loss teams atop the poll are gonna take a hit. And then there’s Clemson, which just needs to avoid a big upset. The Tigers have the easiest road to the 2019 College Football Playoff, and it’s not really close. Ignore announcers who try to tell you that an undefeated Clemson team would be left out of the playoff, because it’s just not happening.

The national poll:

And last week’s national rankings:

This week’s poll question addressed respondents, countrywide, and asked y’all to pick the game for which you’re most excited this weekend. The results:

  3. Notre Dame at Michigan: 13.7%
