FSU interim head coach Odell Haggins after BC win: ‘We are Florida State— we are unconquered’

Odell? Oh yeah.

NCAA Football: Florida State at Boston College Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports

After Florida State fired Willie Taggart last Sunday, the attention of most ’Nole fans turned, appropriately, to the search for the Seminoles’ next head coach. But there’s still a season to finish, and a postseason to which FSU hopes to return. Venerable Seminole Odell Haggins assumed the interim head coach position for the second time in three years, and on Saturday against Boston College, he picked up right where he left off in 2017— delivering.

Haggins discussed how players told him “coach, we got your back,” as well as how he placed confidence in offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, telling him, simply, “I support you.” That sentiment was spoken into action, as Briles debuted redshirt-frosh QB Jordan Travis, who didn’t attempt a pass but rushed three times for 94 yards and a couple of scores.

Summing up his philosophy was simple for Haggins: “There’s only one way— the ’Nole way.”
