Florida State running back Cam Akers’ stock has risen in 2019, as he’s averaging triple-digit rushing yards per game and often shouldered the offensive load for the Seminoles. His performance has his name climbing both draft boards and the FSU record book— but those ascents will have to take a week off.
According to a release from Florida State, Akers will miss the Seminoles’ home finale against Alabama State on Saturday due to an injury, but he is expected back for FSU’s trip to Gainesville. The same applies to starting tight end Tre McKitty. Freshman lineman Darius Washington, who’d won the starting left tackle spot, requires surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. However, since he only appeared in four games, he’ll be able to take a redshirt for the 2019 campaign.
The ’Noles will get some guys back, though. Linebacker Dontavious Jackson and offensive lineman Donta Lucas both missed the Boston College game last weekend, but they’re expected to play against the Hornets.
