Although it had been a foregone conclusion since Florida State’s win at Boston College the other weekend, Saturday saw the Seminoles’ official return to bowl eligibility, as FSU registered its sixth win of the 2019 season. Now the waiting game begins as to Florida State’s postseason destination.
Of course, the ’Noles could help their cause with a win at UF to close the regular season— but projections aren’t counting on that. Hence, Detroit’s Quick Lane Bowl remains a popular guess for Florida State. 247 Sports and CBS Sports continue to forecast the Seminoles to the Motor City against Michigan State, but the Spartans have just four wins and need to close the season with victories at Rutgers and vs. Maryland to become eligible. That may not sound like much of a task, but MSU has floundered down the stretch, dropping its last five games— even if four of those defeats came to ranked teams.
Banner Society has changed its prediction from the Military Bowl vs. Navy to the Quick Lane as well, with FSU getting the Central Michigan Chippewas. Sports Illustrated also thinks the Seminoles will draw Sparty, but in New York City’s Pinstripe Bowl.
The Sporting News has the ’Noles facing a different MSU — Mississippi State — in Charlotte’s Belk Bowl, while both ESPN predictors, Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach, think Florida State will return to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA. The former sees a matchup with home-state Louisiana Tech, the latter against Western Kentucky.
