Our Bud Elliott recently wrapped another instant-reaction Nolecast, this one following the Seminoles’ road defeat to the Florida Gators.
In a game that went about how we thought it would, this game, predictably, was lost up front. On offense, the ’Noles simply couldn’t block UF. Out of 56 FSU plays, 12 went for a loss, with eight of those being sacks. Despite Cam Akers and Tamorrion Terry going over the 100-yard mark on the ground and through the air, respectively, the Seminoles simply lost far too often in the trenches to be competitive.
On defense, Florida State was fine against the run, allowing just 3.1 yards per carry. But Florida isn’t much of a running team— and it was getting what it needed via the pass anyway, scoring on seven of its first eight possessions. FSU failed to record a single sack on 48 pass attempts for UF.
