A stalwart of Seminole football is back.

NCAA Football: Florida State at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

New Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has already begun assembling his football staff. But he didn’t have to go far to find his new defensive line coach.

Norvell will retain Seminole defensive line coach Odell Haggins, who will reprise his role as both DL coach and associate head coach. Haggins is the first official assistant Norvell has added, although we ran a piece earlier today regarding a hire at offensive coordinator as well. This move will also make Haggins the longest tenured assistant coach in the country in 2020. In one role or another, Haggins has been a coach at FSU since 1994.

Said Norvell about retaining Haggins:

I’m extremely excited to announce that Coach Odell Haggins will be my first official assistant coach here at Florida State. He is an incredible representative of Florida State football, a tremendous leader and teacher and a wonderful man. His knowledge and understanding of the Nole Way will be critical in our pursuit of excellence for this football team on and off the field.
