Florida State football, recruiting news: FSU loses 2 offensive players

A running back and tight end are no longer with the team.

Football:

The Seminoles have lost 2 players from the offensive side of the ball, as Amir Rasul and Naseir Upshur are no longer members of the Florida State football team.

Willie Taggart did not sign a high school quarterback during his first 2 recruiting cycles as the head coach at FSU. While rare, it isn’t unprecedented and wasn’t the end of the world for Arizona State when they were unable to secure a QB in 2012 and 2013, per the Tampa Bay Times.

Defensive back Levonta Taylor is the latest Seminole to be featured in the #FacesofFSUFootball Instagram series.

QB Josh Jackson, a graduate transfer from Virginia Tech who was discussed as an option for Florida State, will be enrolling at Maryland.

Recruiting:

FSU extended an offer to 2021 offensive tackle prospect Marcus Tate from University School in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Other Sports:

The men’s basketball team won their 8th-straight ACC game (a program record) when they beat Clemson last night.

The No. 1 ranked, and defending National Champion, Florida State softball team had an absolutely phenomenal showing at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational. The field was stacked with great teams, and yet, the ’Noles still managed to go 6-0 for the duration of the tournament.

A member of the team was chosen as the Player of the Week by the ACC and USA Softball.

The women’s tennis team picked up a big win over the Gators.
