Florida State football, recruiting news: QB transfer has been accepted into FSU

The new quarterback will enroll in May.

Football:

Former Western Michigan quarterback Wyatt Rector was accepted into FSU on Monday, and will enroll in May. (VIP) It was reported in February that Rector would transfer to Florida State as a walk-on, at first. Here is a scouting report on what Rector will bring to the Seminoles.

Head coach Willie Taggart began his 2019 spring tour last night in Jacksonville, FL. The 12-city tour will feature a host of current and former players. Gene Deckerhoff, the voice of the Florida State Seminoles, will serve as the emcee.

#Tribe19 signee Travis Jay is ready to suit up for the ’Noles.

Recruiting:

Florida State made the top 13 for 2020 4-star wide receiver Bryce Gowdy. The prospect from Deerfield Beach, FL also included Florida, Auburn, Penn State, and Notre Dame in that list, among others.

2020 FSU QB commit Jeff Sims made his opinion known to Gowdy.

The Seminoles extended an offer to 2021 defensive back Markevious Brown. Brown is an in-state prospect that plays for IMG Academy and also holds offers from Miami, Mississippi State, and Nebraska.

2020 offensive line recruit Javion Cohen has decommitted from the University of South Carolina. The ’Noles offered the prospect from Phenix City, AL last month.

Other Sports:

Florida State men’s basketball landed a commitment from JUCO wing RayQuan Evans on Sunday. Evans sat down for a Q&A with Chris Nee of Noles247 which you can read here.

FSU assistant coach Dennis Gates is reportedly a candidate for the head coaching job at Southern Mississippi.

Virginia Tech basketball star Kerry Blackshear has entered the transfer portal.

Additionally, Virginia’s Kyle Guy has declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.

The women’s basketball team has added a transfer from a school in the SEC.

FSU softball will take on the Florida Gators tonight in game 2 of the Sunshine Showdown, and tickets for the contest are officially sold out. It will be broadcast on ESPNews at 7 pm EST.

Softball legend Jessie Warren will be in Tallahassee tonight for the big game.
