Spring game season is a time for looking ahead to the future, but Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen recently took a look back at the recent past to throw a jab at rival FSU.

The Seminoles held their annual Garnet and Gold Spring Game this past weekend, claiming an official attendance of 27,901. Was that total inflated? Perhaps. But that’s nothing new in college football. UF will host its Orange & Blue Game this coming Saturday, and Mullen even confessed to toying with attendance numbers previously— while poking fun at the Seminoles.

Mullen’s reference, of course, is to Florida’s 2018 win over the ’Noles. The final score: 41-14. That was Mullen’s first game in the Sunshine Showdown as a head coach, and the UF victory was its first in the series since 2012. Florida State has won seven of the series’ last nine games. The rivals will play in Gainesville this year, on November 30.
