A couple of national outlets have penned bowl projections in the last few days, and they each have Florida State headed north and east for postseason play following the upcoming season.
247Sports.com predicts that the Seminoles will travel to New York City, facing off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Pinstripe Bowl. This game gets its name because it’s played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Last year, a pair of seven-win teams (Miami and Wisconsin) matched up, with the Badgers destroying the Hurricanes, 35-3.
Here are 247’s notes about their forecast: “That’s right — Florida State will be an improved football team in 2019. For coach Willie Taggart’s sake, it must happen. Redshirt sophomore quarterback James Blackman is bulking up this spring and should be the guy following the dismissal of Deondre Francois and depth questions abound under center.” The Pinstripe Bowl will kickoff at 3:20 pm on December 27, 2019.
The Sporting News has FSU staying closer to home, destined for the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have the ’Noles meeting Ole Miss in a game that, last year, saw Virginia stomp South Carolina, 28-0. Like the participants in last year’s Pinstripe Bowl, both of those squads entered the game with seven wins. 2019’s Belk Bowl will commence at noon on New Year’s Eve.
So, what do you say? NYC or Charlotte?
