Week 4 FSU bowl projections: Predictions of classic matchup gain steam

Bright lights, big game?

Last week, I discussed how the prospect of a Florida State vs. Nebraska bowl game had emerged as a popular pick among prognosticators. That forecast has only gained more momentum a week later— and with a common venue.

Of the eight predictors we surveyed, four think the Seminoles will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a bowl game, and three of those outlets (The Sporting News, 247 Sports, and CBS Sports) think that happens in the Pinstripe Bowl, in New York City. ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura foresees the ’Noles and ’Huskers kicking off in Detroit’s Quick Lane Bowl.

College Football News sees FSU returning to the Independence Bowl to play home-state Tulane. And speaking of a de facto road game, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, who’d excluded Florida State from his bowl projections for the last couple weeks, has the Seminoles back in the postseason— but up against Navy in the Military Bowl, which is played in Annapolis, Maryland, home of the US Naval Academy. SB Nation’s own Banner Society also thinks the ’Noles are headed for the Military Bowl, but to play Temple.

Still not buying into the Seminoles? Stadium’s Brett McMurphy. At no point this season has McMurphy predicted Florida State to make a postseason appearance. Hey, at least he’s consistent.
