Several ’Noles to make XFL debut this weekend— all on national TV

Still cashing checks to play ball.

Football’s over— right? Nah. Football never really ends. And this weekend, several Seminoles will begin their careers in the XFL.

Receiver Kermit Whitfield will be the first ’Nole to suit up, as his Los Angeles Wildcats will play the Houston Roughnecks at 5 pm today. That game will be broadcast on FOX.

More former FSU players will hit the gridiron on Sunday, starting at 2 pm, when the Tampa Bay Vipers face the New York Guardians. Defensive back Tarvarus McFadden and running back Jacques Patrick will play for the Vipers, also on FOX.

Linebacker Ro’Derrick Hoskins will round out the weekend for the Seminoles on Sunday, when his St. Louis Battlehawks square off against the Dallas Renegades, a squad led by Bob Stoops. Apparently, Stoops and FSU are still working to hammer out those contract details (it’s okay to laugh about it now). ESPN will carry this game, which kicks off at 5 pm.
