Florida State head coach Mike Norvell confirmed today during a press conference that sophomore cornerback Akeem Dent will miss spring practice with a foot injury, suffered during offseason workouts.

Here’s a blurb on him from our secondary spring position preview:

We expect him to roll with the corners once he’s healthy. Last season Dent also flashed; the 6’1 Pahokee standout was often around the ball but could never quite seem to finish the play, notably dropping several interceptions. Still, he had 35 tackles and seven pass breakups, which led the ACC among true freshmen.

Dent was a highly-recruited prospect out of high school, and as an early enrollee, first showed off his potential in last year’s spring game. By all indications, he should be good to go by fall.

Norvell said that other players may be limited day-by-day, but Dent is the only recent addition to the spring injury report.
