UPDATE: Mississippi State’s Fabien Lovett signs with Florida State

FSU just got better in the trenches.

FSU has added another defensive transfer to its roster. This time it’s former Mississippi State defensive tackle Fabien Lovett. He announced his decision on twitter just a few moments ago:

Lovett signed with Mississippi State as a four-star defensive end (247sports) out of the class of 2018. He chose MSST over offers from Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Memphis. No surprise now that he’s headed to Florida State with a previous history from his recruitment. He’ll enter FSU as a redshirt sophomore in 2020 and will apply for a waiver for immediate eligibility.

With FSU already losing Malcolm Lamar and Xavier Peters from its 2018 defensive line class depth was sorely needed; enter Lovett.

His transfer comes as a surprise amidst controversy. New head coach Mike Leach whom is known for posting somewhat crass jokes on twitter posted a meme involving a noose. Not shortly after Lovett announced his intention to enter the portal after criticizing the coach for his lack of awareness regarding the history of lynching in the state of Mississippi.

He’ll look for a new start in Tallahassee; welcome to Florida State Mr. Lovett.
