“We’ve got a long way to go as a defense — but I’m seeing the willingness to learn and progress.”

Florida State’s new defensive coordinator Adam Fuller spoke to the media today ahead of fall practice starting tomorrow. Fuller spoke on the roles in his defense, the versatility in many of FSU’s defenders, and the overall talent he has to work with in 2020.

Fuller spoke on a few specific Seminole defenders in his presser. He first mentioned defensive end’s Janarius Robinson and Joshua Kaindoh, mentioning that they’re both interchangeable and versatile. Either player could be used as the “FOX” or have their hand down on the line.

Amari Gainer will have a big part in Florida State’s defense, as Fuller said, “We will start him at the “STUD.” A great outside-in player. He has great pass rush instincts. We also want to develop him long term as a box linebacker.”

With only three spring practices, Fuller knows there is still work to be done, but he’s excited about the raw talent FSU possesses as a defense. The ‘Noles have shown him some key attributes since coming back to campus, “We’ve got a long way to go as a defense — but I’m seeing the willingness to learn and progress.”

The Seminoles have depth and talent in all three groups of the defensive side of the ball, as Fuller stated, “I’m excited for this group of guys, at all three levels of our defense.”
