Florida State Seminoles football will be facing off against Miami-Florida Hurricanes in a College Gameday-hosted primetime matchup— without head coach Mike Norvell on the sidelines.
Deputy head coach Chris Thomson will assume head coaching responsibilities, as Norvell will be quarantining after testing positive for coronavirus.
“Coach Thomsen has extensive experience developing NFL players throughout his career at a variety of positions from head coach, offensive line, tight ends and running backs,” Norvell said when Thomsen was hired. “He brings a relentless work ethic in recruiting, which has allowed him to be one of the top recruiters in the country and one of the best that I’ve ever been around. I have seen this as a player when I was at Central Arkansas and working side-by-side with him at Arizona State.”
Miami is on a three-game win streak in the series, with the Hurricanes’ 2017 win snapping a 7-game streak for the Seminoles.
The Hurricanes are 2-0, coming off a big win against the then-No. 18 Louisville Cardinals and a season-opening non-conference win against the UAB Blazers.
Vegas Insider currently has the consensus set at 11 1⁄2 points in Miami’s favor. The over under is currently set at 53 1⁄2.
As of Friday afternoon, 43% of spread money bet has been on FSU, with 98% of money line on Miami and over 60 percent taking the over.
