Despite a 13-0 record and an ACC Championship, Florida State will not get the chance to play for a national championship.

The College Football Playoff committee slotted the undefeated Seminoles at No. 5 in the final edition of the rankings, with both Texas (No. 3) and Alabama (No. 4) jumping the Seminoles.

Alabama lost to Texas on September 9, with the Longhorns losing to Oklahoma a month later.

Across the country, the decision to leave out FSU saw major reaction, most heartbreakingly from the Florida State players including Jordan Travis, who wished he “broke his leg earlier in this season” to avoid the scenario.

“The consequences of giving in to a narrative of the moment are destructive, far-reaching, and permanent,” FSU athletic director Michael Alford said after the announcement. “Not just for Florida State, but college football as a whole.”

“For many of us, today’s decision by the committee has forever damaged the credibility of the institution that is the College Football Plavoff. And, saddest of all, it was self-inflicted. They chose predictive competitiveness over proven performance; subjectivity over fact. They have become a committee of prognosticators. They have abandoned their responsibility by discarding their purpose - to evaluate performance on the field.”

Below, you’ll find some reactions from recruits, alumni, current players, coaches, officials and Florida State administrators — as well as FSU fans, media members and more.
