Florida State Seminoles football got its first win today under Mike Norvell, rallying from a 14 point deficit on the way to a 41-24 victory.
Norvell spoke with the media after the game, touching on quarterback Jordan Travis and his team’s response to adversity:
On team response
“Really proud of our football team. Great to be back out there on the football field with them.”
“To see our team respond and have impact plays in all three phases, just really proud of our guys.”
“When you’re in that moment of adversity, your true character is going to show itself. I thought it was a great performance from the second quarter on and it was great to get the win.”
On Jordan Travis
“He really missed the majority of this week of work. The way he was able to execute, it showed the mental preparation.”
“Just really, really proud of the young man. Excited about what the future could be for him.”
On running game with Jordan Travis:
“He provides another threat. I thought he did a good job in the run game and taking the perimeter. It opened up some good running lanes for the backs.”
“He opens up some unique opportunities with what he can do with his legs.”
On penalties/the standard he expects from the team
“Our guys are being held accountable to what the standard is. At the end of the day, we are going to get this fixed.”
“It wasn’t always pretty throughout the night, but it might’ve been exactly what we needed.”
“It was a tremendous joy to walk into that locker room tonight. To go out there and be able to respond in that moment... it was a great joy and I’m really proud of this football team.”
