Pre-Game Spread: NC State 11.5, 61.5
Score/Result: NC State 38, FSU 22
Player of the Game (Offense): Jashaun Corbin was tasked with a heavy load today, stepping up to take direct snaps with Jordan Travis unavailable and James Blackman departing the program, and though he fell short on FSU’s initial fourth down attempt to start the game, he made big plays to keep FSU at least competitive.
Player of the Game (Defense): Emmett Rice has taken a huge leap from the beginning of the year — in his play, and as a leader on a side of the ball where there’s been little consistency and experience of success
Key Statistic: 3 of 14. FSU struggled on third down all night, not truly finding momentum on offense until the game was relatively out of reach. On the flip side, NC State found endless third down success.
Offensive Play of the Game: Chubba Purdy launching the ball 69 yards to Ontaria Wilson for a touchdown was the first spark of life from Florida State — or, alternatively, Warren Thompson’s extremely impressive 24-yard snag that may or may not have been in bounds, but shhh.
Defensive Play of the Game: Jarvis Brownlee’s ridiculous circus catch in the third quarter put FSU back into the game — if FSU had managed to get points on the drive following, it would’ve been within striking distance.
What Do They Need To Do?: Build off the positives, shake off the bad and move on to the next week with an eye on the future.
